A Beech Island man died in a two-vehicle collision on Sandbar Ferry Road late Sunday night, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 10:43 p.m. on April 19 at Sandbar Ferry Road and Laurie Drive. David Smith III, 52, was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound when it collided with a semi-truck‘s trailer that was making a turn.
Emergency responders pronounced Smith dead at the scene at 11:20 p.m., according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. A toxicology report is pending.
