Fatal Hit-and-Run in Makiki Claims Life of 30-Year-Old Man
MAKIKI, HI – A 30-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident late Thursday night.
The Honolulu Police Department reported the collision occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on Kewalo Street near Wilder Avenue. Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling north on Kewalo Street, which fled the scene without providing assistance.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. This incident marks Oahu's 13th traffic fatality of 2026, down from 21 fatalities at the same point last year.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, and Police have not yet determined if speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors Stalled.
