Van carrying passengers with special needs crashes in Jackson, leaving multiple injured.

TOMS RIVER ― A transporting individuals with special needs was involved in a crash on Toms River Road (Route 571) on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near South Stump Tavern Road, resulting in a utility pole falling onto the vehicle, according to authorities.

There were three occupants in the van at the time of the collision, but no injuries were reported. All individuals declined hospital treatment, police confirmed.

The northbound lane of Route 571 remained closed Wednesday evening as utility workers repaired the damaged pole.
