IWILEI, HAWAII (Local News Wire) – A 65-year-old woman was fatally injured by a vehicle in a parking lot incident in Iwilei on Thursday afternoon.
The collision occurred around 1:45 p.m. on July 30, on Alakawa Street. According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), a 57-year-old woman was reversing from a marked stall in a private shopping plaza when her vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded promptly and provided advanced life support. The victim was transported to an emergency room in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of death will be confirmed pending an autopsy.
HPD indicates that there are currently no suspicions of speed or alcohol being contributing factors in the crash; however, drug involvement remains undetermined. This incident marks the third non-traffic fatality on Oahu for the year, compared to none during the same period in 2025.
