Fatal Crash on Albany Avenue in Hartford
A 25-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a speeding driver who fled a police traffic stop on Albany Avenue in Hartford late Sunday night, authorities said.
Hartford police reported the crash occurred around 11:59 p.m. at 1510 Albany Ave., involving a 2009 gray Infinity and a Ford Fiesta. The driver of the Infinity, a 34-year-old Hartford man, was critically injured and is not expected to survive, according to officials.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found the Infinity engulfed in flames, with its driver unresponsive on the ground. The Fiesta driver, identified as Adrian Service, was also found unresponsive in his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police indicated that officers had attempted to stop the Infinity prior to the crash due to several traffic violations, but the driver accelerated away, leading to the fatal collision. The Infinity subsequently lost control and struck Service's Fiesta.
Emergency responders provided medical aid to the suspect before transporting him to a local hospital. Fire crews extinguished the vehicle fire, and the Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the incident.
Inside the suspect's vehicle, law enforcement discovered a firearm and drugs, with the driver previously listed in the deadly weapons offense registry.
