12-Year-Old Killed in Las Vegas School Bus Accident
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A school bus accident claimed the life of 12-year-old Haylee Ryan on October 6, 2025, while she was riding her bicycle near Tropical Parkway and Bradley Street.
According to a newly released traffic report, the bus driver was at fault. Investigators determined that Ryan was in a marked bike lane when she had to veer into a gore lane to avoid a parked Chevrolet Tahoe, which was obstructing the bike lane. The collision occurred when the front right side of the bus struck the left handlebar of her bike.
The traffic report indicated that after impact, the bus continued for an additional 121 feet while Ryan traveled 8 feet before being run over by the bus's rear tires, sustaining fatal injuries.
Officials noted that despite the report holding the driver responsible, there have been no citations or arrests as the investigation remains ongoing.
Family, friends, and staff from Lied Stem Academy held a vigil to honor Ryan, who was remembered for her creativity and kindness. Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday at Canyon Ridge Christian Church.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has stated that they will not be citing the bus driver as the investigation continues.
