PEARL CITY, Hawaii (Island News) — An 80-year-old woman died from her injuries over a month after being struck by a vehicle in Pearl City.
According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), the incident occurred on June 10, 2026, at approximately 6:52 a.m. A 68-year-old man was driving northbound on Kaahumanu Street, turning left onto Noelani Street when he collided with the woman, who was walking in a marked crosswalk.
Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to the hospital in serious condition. The driver remained at the scene and was unharmed.
On July 31, the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office notified HPD's Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that the woman had succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been disclosed as authorities continue to notify her family.
At this time, HPD has not determined if speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors to the collision. This incident marks Oahu's 24th traffic fatality of the year, a decrease from 47 at this time in 2025.
The investigation remains ongoing.
