EWA BEACH, Hawaii (Island News) – A moped crash occurred early Tuesday morning on Fort Weaver Road, leaving a 57-year-old man hospitalized in critical condition.
At approximately 12:59 a.m., the man was riding westbound on Renton Road when he ran a red light and turned left at the intersection of Fort Weaver Road, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man.
Police reported that the moped operator was not wearing a helmet and was ejected onto the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The 29-year-old driver remained at the scene and reported no injuries.
Authorities are investigating the incident, with no indications yet regarding the influence of speed, drugs, or alcohol.
