JACKSON, Miss. — A wrong-way driver died in a fiery crash on Interstate 55 Wednesday at approximately 9 a.m.
According to Madison police, a gray vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided with a barrier, veered off the road, and struck trees near the Madison Avenue Exit. The impact ignited a significant fire.
The Madison Fire Department, alongside local police agencies, responded to the scene. Firefighters and law enforcement were unable to rescue the driver, whose identity has not yet been released.
