JACKSON, Miss. — A 23-year-old man faces charges after evading Capitol Police and causing a multi-vehicle crash on Beasley Road on August 26.
The incident occurred before 8 p.m., when officers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle exhibiting reckless behavior. “The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, and officers were unable to catch up to the vehicle. Therefore, a pursuit did not occur,” according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Authorities continued to search for the vehicle, which ran a red light and collided with another car. The impact sent the vehicle into a grassy embankment, ultimately striking a metal guardrail at a nearby gas station.
The driver, identified as Tyler Kendrell, was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Charges are pending, and the incident remains under investigation by the DPS. No confirmed injuries from the other vehicle occupants have been reported.
