Driver faces charges after crash with another vehicle.

JACKSON, Miss. — A 23-year-old man faces charges after evading Capitol Police and causing a crash on Beasley Road on August 26.

The incident occurred before 8 p.m., when officers attempted to stop a vehicle exhibiting reckless behavior. “The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, and officers were unable to catch up to the vehicle. Therefore, a pursuit did not occur,” according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Authorities continued to search for the vehicle, which ran a red light and collided with another . The impact sent the vehicle into a grassy embankment, ultimately striking a metal guardrail at a nearby gas station.

The driver, identified as Tyler Kendrell, was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Charges are pending, and the incident remains under investigation by the DPS. No confirmed injuries from the other vehicle occupants have been reported.
