Lori Heavilin's Tragic Outcome Linked to Bad Judgment in Local Incident

LORI HEAVILIN, 34, of Springfield, was fatally injured during a vehicle collision on Elm Street at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Authorities reported that Heavilin was struck while walking near the intersection of Elm and Oak Streets. The incident involved two vehicles, a sedan and an , traveling in opposite directions. The driver of the sedan is suspected of impaired judgment at the time of the incident.

Emergency responders, including local police and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. Heavilin was shortly after arrival at Springfield General Hospital. The occupants of the SUV were treated for minor injuries on-site.

According to the Police Department, the roadway was closed for approximately three hours as an investigation was conducted and debris cleared. Traffic was rerouted, causing delays in the area.
