Monroe County, GA. – Two people are dead following a car crash that occurred on Thursday morning in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened around 7:17 a.m. on Highway 42 near Boxankle Road.
An SUV was traveling northbound when the driver lost control and collided with a Chevrolet sedan.
The 41-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two passengers of the SUV were taken to a Macon hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the sedan was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital.
A passenger in the sedan was also taken to a Macon hospital where they died while receiving treatment.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
