Beverly Lloyd Dies after Aiken County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20
Aiken County, South Carolina – A woman was killed in a Sunday morning collision involving a box truck in Aiken County, authorities said.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the deadly accident occurred on Interstate 20 West at mile marker 13 at about 4:16 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021.
A 2017 box truck, driven by Safii Dew, 48, of Covington, Georgia, was traveling on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, it rear-ended a 1996 Mazda 626, the officials said.
The Mazda, driven by Beverly Ann Lloyd, 51, of Hopkins, was reportedly slowing down for traffic when the truck drove over it. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
As a result of the collision, the Mazda spun in the roadway and Lloyd was ejected from the vehicle, the officials said.
Sadly, Lloyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not clear if Dew was injured in the accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
