WARRENVILLE, S.C. — Two travelers died in a fiery collision on U.S. 1 near Aiken Technical College on April 5.

Authorities identified the victims as 21-year-old Colton Sanders of Windsor, S.C., and 17-year-old Jasmine Ambs of Thomson, Ga. Both were riding a southbound 2026 Kawasaki when they collided with a northbound 2020 Subaru Outback.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at approximately 10:27 a.m. as the Subaru was turning left into a private driveway and was struck on the passenger side by the . Both Sanders and Ambs were at the scene around 11 a.m., with their identities initially unclear due to thermal injuries.

The driver of the Subaru sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Witnesses reported significant damage to the Subaru, which was heavily burned.

Traffic delays and detours were implemented while emergency responders, including the South Carolina Highway Patrol and local fire crews, managed the scene. An ongoing investigation involves the Coroner's Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Carolina Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
