One Dead, One Severely Injured in ATV Crash in Corinth
CORINTH, ME — One person died and another suffered serious injuries in an ATV crash on Beech Grove Road Saturday night, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities reported the incident occurred around 9:55 p.m. when deputies and rescue workers responded to a call about the crash.
Investigators found the ATV had left the roadway, rolling over into a wooded area and ejecting both occupants. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate the ATV was operating on Beech Grove Road, rather than a designated trail. Authorities noted that speed, reckless operation, and alcohol may have contributed to the accident.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and Penobscot County sheriff's officers are leading the inquiry.
