VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A 21-year-old woman has been arrested after crashing her vehicle into the patio of Murphy's Irish Pub on the Oceanfront Friday night.
Ailani Roundtree faces charges of reckless driving causing bodily harm. According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., injuring eight people, one seriously.
Witnesses report Roundtree's vehicle left a nearby parking garage moments before the crash. Camera footage indicates she attempted to evade a parking fee by following another vehicle and lost control while turning, leading to the collision.
Emergency personnel from the Virginia Beach Fire Department and local police responded to the scene. The seriously injured victim was transported to a nearby hospital; the status of the other injured individuals is reported as stable.
Roundtree admitted to consuming one alcoholic drink prior to driving, according to police reports. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
