UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCHS) — A woman and two children were killed in a crash involving a tractor trailer on Monday afternoon in Pike County.

Hannah Howard, 30, and her children, Gunner Howard, 9, and Peyton Howard, 5, all of Beaver, died at the scene. A 4-year-old child was to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus with life-threatening injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 32 and Coal Dock Road. Investigators stated Howard's failed to yield while traveling north on Coal Dock Road and was struck by an empty logging truck heading west on Route 32.

Emergency responders included the Ohio Department of Transportation, Pike County Sheriff's Office, Pike County Coroner's Office, MedFlight, Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service, and local fire departments. Gahm's Wrecker & Crane Service assisted with vehicle removal.

The crash is under investigation, and no further details have been released.
