CLEARFIELD, Utah (KUTV) — A driver suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness, crashing the vehicle into a tree on September 29 at approximately 2:45 p.m.

The incident occurred near 1500 E. 925 South. The driver was transported for a medical evaluation; no passengers were reported injured, according to Utah Transit Authority officials. The bus sustained significant damage and was subsequently towed from the scene.

Authorities reported that nearby residents witnessed the crash and described the sound as a loud thud. One witness, Jasmyn Ashby, noted the destruction of a nearby fence and stated, “I saw the bus in the tree, like fully in the tree.”

Ashby, along with other bystanders, assisted a nurse in checking on the driver. Witness Jonithan Shaffer reviewed his doorbell camera footage and remarked that the bus appeared to be traveling at a high speed before crashing. He expressed relief that the tree prevented the bus from reaching his home, stating, “If this tree wasn't here, it probably would have gone through my front yard.”

Clearfield city crews arrived shortly after the incident to cut down parts of the damaged tree and clear debris. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
