West Jordan Resident Dies in Nevada Car Crash.

ELKO COUNTY, Nevada — A 52-year-old man died in a crash on Interstate 80 early Monday morning.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Matthew Allen Szukala of West Jordan, Utah, was traveling eastbound on I-80 approximately 23 miles west of West Wendover when the incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Szukala was operating an Oldsmobile Alero in the left lane when he drifted into the center median.

Authorities reported that Szukala attempted to correct his path by turning the steering wheel but lost control, causing the vehicle to roll after the tires dug into the dirt. Szukala was from the vehicle and died at the scene due to his injuries. NHP confirmed that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

An investigation is ongoing, and no further details regarding road conditions or potential contributing factors have been released.
