Man discovered dead in vehicle following crash on 13400 South in Riverton.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A 25-year-old man was discovered in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head following a collision on a roadway in Riverton.

Nate Slack, Public Information Officer for Riverton City, reported that the incident took place around 7 p.m. as the man was driving westbound on 13400 South, approaching Mountain View Corridor. The vehicle reportedly made contact with another from behind near the Chick-fil-A and subsequently came to a stop near the Chase Bank.

Upon arrival, authorities found the man in his car with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head. The bullet had shattered the driver's side window, and a firearm was located on the floor of the driver's side, adjacent to the man's right foot.

Witness accounts indicated that the man was driving in a reckless manner prior to the collision.

Police from Herriman are in the process of notifying the man's next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
