LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A crash involving a Waymo autonomous vehicle and another car occurred Saturday at West Sunset Road and Polaris Avenue.
According to authorities, the Waymo vehicle was traveling when the rear car lost control, striking the Waymo and subsequently crashing into a nearby pole. One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and assess damages. No further details regarding vehicle damages or lane closures have been confirmed at this time.
Waymo issued a statement highlighting their safety record, noting that their vehicles have covered over 220 million miles, resulting in 94% fewer serious injury-causing collisions compared to human drivers.
