LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 20-year-old motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries following a crash Thursday morning at East Desert Inn Road and South Cambridge Street.
Authorities reported that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 10:37 a.m. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that a 2025 Hyundai Elantra, traveling westbound on Desert Inn Road, turned left onto southbound Cambridge Street.
As this occurred, the motorcyclist, operating a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja, approached the intersection eastbound in the rightmost lane. A 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was stationary to the north on Cambridge Street, waiting for a red traffic signal and preparing to turn right onto Desert Inn.
Officials stated that the crash ensued when the Hyundai failed to yield to the motorcyclist, resulting in a collision. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently struck the left front of the Chevrolet.
Emergency medical personnel transported the motorcyclist to Sunrise Hospital, where his injuries were classified as life-threatening. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and lane closures were implemented at the intersection due to the accident response.
