LAKE ELMO, MN — A multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 36 hospitalized two drivers on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Manning Avenue. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, three vehicles were involved in an initial rear-end collision. After two drivers exited their vehicles, a fourth vehicle rear-ended them.
Authorities reported that both drivers who emerged from their cars sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.
Emergency responders, including multiple ambulances and firetrucks, arrived at the scene. Traffic management cameras captured several vehicles ending up in the grassy median.
Both westbound lanes were closed for over 30 minutes as traffic was detoured, but have since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
