Two drivers dead in near head-on crash in Arlington

TOWN OF ARLINGTON, Wis. (WKOW) — Two men were killed in a near on WIBU Road near Kampen Road Tuesday afternoon, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

The crash, reported around 3 p.m., involved a northbound and a southbound Toyota sedan, each driven by one person. Preliminary findings indicate that the Toyota crossed the center line, leading to the collision.

Both drivers became trapped in their vehicles, with one of the cars reportedly catching fire. A deputy arrived quickly but could not rescue the driver from the burning vehicle. The Arlington Fire Department extinguished the flames.

The victims, a 40-year-old man driving the Toyota and a 47-year-old man driving the Ford, both from Poynette, were at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notifications.

The incident prompted an investigation, and further details will be provided as they become available.
