Two Dead in Fiery New Haven Crash
New Haven police report two fatalities from a crash early Sunday morning on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard.
Authorities received calls around 2:50 a.m. regarding a vehicle that struck a tree and caught fire in the 500 block of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, discovering a body in the back seat of the vehicle, which was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Shortly thereafter, Yale New Haven Hospital notified police that a 40-year-old man, who was transported by private vehicle and believed to be involved in the incident, succumbed to his injuries. His identity is also pending release.
Investigators have determined that only one vehicle was involved in the crash. The investigation remains active as authorities gather further details.
