SYRACUSE, Utah (KUTV) — Two 13-year-old girls died in a collision with a pickup truck in the intersection of Banbury Drive and Heritage Parkway shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, but both girls succumbed to their injuries. Preliminary reports indicate the pickup truck, towing a trailer, was traveling south on Banbury Drive while the girls on the electric scooter were heading west on Heritage Parkway when they collided in the intersection.
The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to the Syracuse Police Department. “The weight of this loss is especially heavy for the families and loved ones of the victims,” the department stated, extending condolences to those affected by the tragedy.
The identities of the girls have not been disclosed as authorities continue efforts to notify their families. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details about lane closures or tows have been released.
