The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office identified a woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on Oct. 23 near SW 21 Street and Auburn Road.
Carol M. Purcell, 77, was transported from the scene to a hospital, where she died later that day, according to Deputy Abigail Christian, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office.
Information regarding the other individuals involved has not yet been released.
Details of the Topeka crash
According to authorities, a trash truck traveling north on SW Auburn Road collided with Purcell's westbound sport-utility vehicle, which had entered the roadway.
An American Medical Response ambulance transported Purcell and a passenger from the SUV to a local hospital, officials said.
The passenger sustained serious injuries, while the trash truck driver suffered minor injuries, authorities reported.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, according to the Sheriff's Office.
