KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A tractor-trailer crash has closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 79 in Elkview this morning.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. near mile marker 7, involving a semi-truck hauling an empty log trailer that partially overturned over a hillside, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office. The truck subsequently crossed into the southbound lanes.
No injuries have been reported. Authorities noted that the incident caused oil to leak onto the roadway and damaged a guardrail.
Firefighters and West Virginia Division of Highways crews are on scene managing the cleanup. Lane closures are expected to remain in effect as the situation is addressed. The incident is under investigation by local authorities.
