Three Officers Injured in Jackson Collision While Responding to Homicide
JACKSON, MS—Three Jackson police officers sustained injuries in a crash while responding to a homicide on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Hollywood Avenue. Two police cruisers collided with each other, and a third cruiser crashed nearby. Paramedics transported all three officers to a local hospital; their injuries are not life-threatening.
The officers were en route to a shooting on Oak Park Drive, just one block away, where 37-year-old Horatio Hunt Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene. His son, 19-year-old Horatio Hunt Jr., was shot in the ear but is expected to recover.
Authorities reported that both victims were inside a vehicle when they were shot. The police believe the suspects were attempting to rob them. Two suspects have been identified, described as two Black males with the nicknames “Out West Tay” and “Bae Bae.” They fled the scene in a white vehicle.
