Tennessee Highway Patrol identifies bus driver in deadly school field trip crash, releases new details.

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — Two students were killed and several others injured Friday in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 70 near Cedar Grove.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol's March 30 update, 29 people were on the Clarksville-Montgomery County school : 24 students, 4 adults, and the driver.

Authorities said the crash involved the school , a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Two student fatalities were confirmed, and multiple patients were .

THP identified the bus driver as Sabrina R. Ducksworth and the bus as a 2024 Blue Bird School Bus.

Officials said nine medical helicopters responded; seven transported patients to trauma centers in Memphis and Nashville. Others were taken by ground ambulance to nearby hospitals.

Dashcam footage obtained by FOX 17 News from driver Xaviel Lugo shows the bus veering over the double yellow line before colliding with the TDOT truck; the truck caught fire, and the bus left the roadway and struck a tree. Witnesses reported the Chevrolet, traveling in the same direction as the TDOT truck, was sideswiped and sustained front-end damage; the driver exited the vehicle.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol's Critical Incident Response Team, along with its Pupil Transportation Division, is leading the investigation. Authorities said crash reconstruction is underway using witness statements and physical and digital evidence.
