Authorities identify Weymouth teen killed in stolen SUV crash in Abington on Wednesday morning.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office, the victim is 17-year-old Sebastian Hamilton, who was driving the stolen Hyundai Tucson.
At approximately 7:47 a.m., Abington police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the SUV, which had been reported stolen. The vehicle subsequently veered off the roadway and collided with a tree near 877 Washington St.
Five individuals were inside the SUV at the time of the accident. A 14-year-old female passenger was ejected from the vehicle, while another male and two female passengers sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals before being moved to facilities in Boston.
Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene after becoming trapped inside the vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing the SUV running a red light with police in pursuit shortly before the crash, estimating it was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The officer involved in the chase has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department protocol. The identities of the injured passengers have not been disclosed.
