A 66-year-old man was critically injured in a collision while riding an electric bicycle on Punchbowl Street Friday night, according to Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
At 9:25 p.m., EMS paramedics arrived at Punchbowl Street, between South King and South Beretania streets, to find the man suffering from multiple life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local emergency room in critical condition.
Authorities reported that the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Honolulu Police Department closed Punchbowl Street in both directions for approximately one hour to facilitate the emergency response.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
