Teen critically injured in Colerain Township crash while biking

A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition following a accident in Colerain Township early Sunday morning.

According to Colerain police, officers responded to the area of Colerain Road and Day Road around 1 a.m. on Oct. 5. Upon arrival, they discovered the teen, identified as Moeller High School sophomore Dylan Straughn, unconscious but breathing at the scene.

Witnesses reported that Straughn was riding a bike when he was struck by a vehicle. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Colerain Township Department of Fire and EMS with life-threatening injuries.

Almost 24 hours later, the vehicle involved in the incident was located, and the driver has been identified, though their name has not been released. Colerain Township officials stated they are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Mike Robinson, a local firefighter, noted concerns about the absence of streetlights, sidewalks, and in the area, emphasizing the risks posed to both bikers and pedestrians.

Moeller High School is providing support for Straughn and his family, with a message on social media urging the community to offer prayers. A GoFundMe has also been established to assist with medical expenses.
