MINNEAPOLIS — On Friday night, the Minnesota Twins paid tribute to Iowa Lakes Community College baseball player Carter Johnson, who was killed in a bus crash earlier this week.
The Twins illuminated Target Field in blue and yellow, sharing the tribute on their Facebook page. The message read, “Last night we lit our stadium in blue and yellow in honor of Carter Johnson and the entire Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team following their tragic bus accident.”
The crash occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday on Iowa Highway 4 near Marengo Avenue, resulting in one fatality and over 30 injuries. According to an Iowa State Patrol report, the bus driver failed to navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to roll over. Two passengers were ejected and became trapped beneath the bus.
Emergency responders from Calhoun, Webster, Sac, and Pocahontas counties assisted at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
