On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache went down near the Strait of Hormuz, as President Donald Trump blamed Iran.
According to U.S. Central Command, the helicopter went down near the coast of Oman while conducting a patrol in regional waters.
Authorities said two Soldiers were rescued within approximately 2 hours and were in stable condition.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation, according to U.S. Central Command.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said Iran shot down the helicopter and that the United States “must” respond. He said both pilots were safe and uninjured.
Trump later discussed the crash with reporters at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after the NBA Finals game.
