WRIGHT COUNTY, Iowa — Two people are dead following a crash in Wright County Friday night.
The incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 69 and 200th Street, just south of Belmond. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a southbound vehicle made an illegal U-turn and collided with another southbound vehicle.
Authorities identified the deceased as 65-year-old Michael Mickelson and 71-year-old Ellen Countryman, both of Belmond. They were occupants of the vehicle that made the U-turn and died at the scene.
The condition of the driver in the other vehicle remains unconfirmed. The crash is under investigation, and no further details have been released.
