Woman Dies in Shawnee County Crash; Investigation Underway
Oct. 22, 2025, 4:09 a.m. CT — An Ozawkie woman died late Oct. 20 in a one-vehicle crash on NE 62nd Street in northern Shawnee County.
Terry L. Friesen, 63, was pronounced dead after being transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a Topeka hospital, according to Shawnee County Sheriff Brian C. Hill. Authorities reported that deputies were dispatched to the crash site around 9:30 p.m.
Friesen was reportedly driving a blue 2002 Honda Odyssey eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway, went through a ditch, crossed a driveway, and came to rest at a tree line. Sheriff Hill noted that it appeared Friesen was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation. The Soldier Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
