Putnam County Deputy Arrested for DUI Following Jackson County Crash.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested for DUI following a crash in Jackson County on June 2.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Chase Carter was involved in the incident while operating his personal vehicle under the influence. The Tennessee Highway Patrol made the arrest.

Carter has been charged with driving under the influence and has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation, authorities said.

“Although I am thankful no one was harmed in the accident, I am saddened by the behavior of Deputy Carter,” Sheriff Eddie Farris stated. “Deputy Carter contributed to this office during his time as a Corrections and Patrol Deputy.”

The sheriff's office confirmed that Carter began his role as a corrections deputy on May 12, 2023, and transitioned to patrol deputy on May 2, 2025.
