SPRINGVILLE, Utah — A car crash in Utah County on Monday claimed the life of Christopher Caru Warden, 79, leader of the Hare Krishna movement in the region.
According to Springville Police, Warden was traveling south on Main Street near 1400 North when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed at a hospital. Two individuals involved in the accident suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Warden, also known as Charu Das, was the president of the Utah Krishnas and co-founded the Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, which hosts the annual Festival of Colors. His contributions to the community and the Hare Krishna movement were widely recognized.
Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and an investigation into the cause is currently underway. Lane closures were reported at the scene during emergency response operations.
