Dover, DE — A single-car crash on Bay Road claimed the life of a 27-year-old man on July 26 around 3:10 p.m.
Authorities identified the deceased as Aubrie Barnes, a Dover resident. Barnes was driving a Lexus GX when he merged into the northbound lane from Exit 93, reportedly at a high rate of speed and changing lanes recklessly, according to Delaware State Police.
The vehicle veered off the road, struck the center median Jersey barrier, and rolled onto its side. Police reported that Barnes was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bay Road was shut down for approximately four hours as officials conducted an investigation and cleared the wreckage. The investigation remains ongoing.
