Police arrest man and seize several pounds of drugs following Clarksville crash.

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — A Kentucky man faces multiple charges after a drug seizure followed his crash on US Route 31 early Wednesday morning.

Clarksville Police responded to the accident at US Route 31 and Stansifer Avenue just after midnight. Officers located a vehicle at the scene but did not find the driver immediately.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Donovan Smith of Elizabethtown, was later discovered near the Radisson Hotel, approximately one block from the crash site. According to police, Smith discarded a bag containing firearms and drugs at the scene. He reportedly admitted to passing out while driving, likely due to drug influence.

Police seized:

  • Three pounds of methamphetamine
  • 112 grams of cocaine
  • 94 grams of marijuana
  • 51 grams of crack cocaine
  • Two 9MM handguns and 73 rounds of ammunition

Smith is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, dealing in cocaine, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and leaving the scene of an accident. He is currently held at the Clark County Jail.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
