Father dies in Riverside motorcycle crash, remembered as ‘a bright light in this dim world.'

A 33-year-old man died in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Wednesday morning in Springfield.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Highway 54, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when the tractor-trailer, also heading east, turned left into the path of the motorcycle.

Emergency responders from the Springfield Fire Department arrived on the scene and confirmed the motorcyclist's death. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed.

Authorities reported that both vehicles sustained significant damage. All eastbound lanes of Highway 54 were closed for several hours to facilitate an investigation.
