A woman is dead and two men are injured following a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a sedan in Plymouth, Maine, on Wednesday night.
First responders received a 911 call reporting the crash at 6:30 p.m. near 1789 Moosehead Trail, according to the Penobscot Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival, crews found three individuals injured, with two occupants of the sedan requiring emergency medical attention.
The 67-year-old driver of the sedan sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while his passenger, a 68-year-old woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. The pickup truck, driven by a 69-year-old man, also had non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are investigating how the westbound truck collided with the eastbound sedan, leading to both vehicles exiting the roadway and entering Plymouth Pond. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
No charges have been announced, and the identities of those involved have not been released. The investigation is ongoing, with Deputy and Criminal Investigation Division personnel on scene. Further details are not available at this time.
