HILLVIEW, Ky. — A woman was sentenced to two life terms on October 5, 2026, for a crash that occurred on June 5, 2024.

Dawn Middleton, 35, was convicted of killing Richard Elzey, 76, and Phyllis Elzey, 77, after running a red light at the intersection of N. Preston Highway and Tanyard Springs Blvd. Her vehicle collided with the Elzeys' pickup truck, causing it to roll over.

According to court records, Middleton admitted to consuming drugs prior to the incident. Blood tests confirmed the presence of narcotics.

Middleton was found guilty of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in August. She received her sentencing on Thursday, with the court ruling that she is not eligible for parole.
