CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — One person was killed Thursday morning after a van towing a trailer rolled into a ditch on Interstate 65.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on the northbound side near mile marker 157. According to Indiana State Police, a 2012 Chevrolet Express van was towing a trailer when the trailer disconnected, causing the van to lose control and veer into an eastside ditch, where it rolled onto its side.
A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was thrown from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner's Office. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending family notification. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Alfredo Hernandez Manuel of Indianapolis, was uninjured.
The Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation into the incident. Emergency personnel from the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Frankfort Police Department, Clinton County Coroner's Office, Colfax Fire Department, and Clinton County EMS responded to the scene. Lane closures were reported in the area during the investigation and cleanup.
