Single-Engine Biplane Crash Investigated Near Dover

A single-engine biplane crashed into power lines east of Dover on September 9, 2025, around 4:10 p.m.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and Delaware State Police. The biplane, a Grumman G-164 designed for agricultural aviation, went down in a wooded area near Chandelle Airport.

Delaware State Police reported the scene involved downed power lines near Kruser Boulevard and Silver Leaf Lane. They confirmed no one was injured and are assisting Fire/EMS and federal investigators.

No crash evidence was found at the airport by the morning of September 10, and no individuals were seen in the vicinity. The aircraft is registered to Air Enterprises LLC, a company engaged in crop work and mosquito control. The owner stated recovery efforts for the plane were underway.

The FAA continues to investigate the incident.
