Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Smyrna Claims Life of 59-Year-Old Man

Smyrna — Joseph Laclair, 59, of Clayton, died in a motorcycle accident early on September 5, according to Delaware State Police.

Authorities reported that Laclair was riding his Yamaha X1A at approximately 4:16 a.m. on Smyrna-Leipsic Road, east of Big Oak Road, when he failed to navigate a turn. His motorcycle left the roadway, entered a ditch, and collided with a culvert pipe, ejecting him from the bike.

Emergency services transported Laclair to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police urge anyone with information to contact Delaware State Police or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
