DEERFIELD (LOCAL NEWS WIRE) — A single-engine aircraft crashed in unincorporated Deerfield on Wednesday night, killing the pilot.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office received reports of the downed aircraft at 9:45 p.m. The plane reportedly struck the roof of a townhome and two gas meters. Authorities confirmed the pilot was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among individuals on the ground.
Details regarding the aircraft's departure location remain unclear. While reports indicated the plane may have left from Dane County Regional Airport, that information could not be verified. Data from ADS-B Exchange suggested the aircraft originated from Necedah Airport, which also did not confirm the reports.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office, along with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and federal officials, will conduct an investigation into the incident.
