A 45-year-old man was killed after exiting his vehicle on I-495 near Wilmington following a rear-end collision, authorities said.
Delaware State Police responded to reports of a three-car crash near 12th Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 4. Upon arrival, they discovered Mark Barnett from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, critically injured at the scene. He was struck by a pickup truck after leaving his car.
Emergency medical personnel provided aid, but Barnett was later pronounced dead. The incident led to lane closures while investigators assessed the scene. Any further inquiries regarding the investigation were directed to the Delaware State Police.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
