A 70-year-old woman was killed in a car crash on Friday, April 24.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., Des Moines police and fire rescue personnel responded to a collision at the intersection of Beaver Avenue and Hickman Road, according to a news release.
A Toyota RAV4 struck a Dodge pickup that failed to stop at a red light, based on evidence collected and witness accounts, authorities said. A passenger in the Dodge was transported to a local hospital and later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the incident. No charges have been filed at this time; the case is under review by the Polk County Attorney's Office.
